He thought he should be a first-rounder and wasnt gonna play in the NFL unless he was picked in the first round. NFL scouts didnt feel as if he was worthy of a first round pick

Yet Heath Shuler and Trent Dilfer were both drafted in the top 10 in that year's draft

Both really, not too many black equivalents of say a Matt Hasselbeck(QB that was drafted in the later rounds and got a chance to start) in the history of the league.

You also don't see too many float around after they're considered done like Joey Harrington did.

I think Charlie Ward>>> than Hasselbeck in the NFL but we will never know.

Ward left college with a ring and a heisman and is considered one of the greatest athletes in the last 30 years.

Mark Richt + Charlie Ward + Shotgun Formation = unstoppable

NBA - guarenteed money (won't get cut if you get injured or don't live up to your contract)

nfl- concussions, most players by retirement have injuries that will never be 100%

not really a tough decision

He made the right choice for him. If given the choice and I could play all 3 as in being drafted 1st rd of each. I'd choose basketball and baseball over football 9.9/10 times.

How was he not considered for first round when he won the heisman though?
