Good for you, reason why I started beats was a video game called "MTV Music Generator" literally spent hours on there crafting my own sounds (this was in '98-'99) and was making house/techno type music until I started skateboarding in High School than that's where I learned Wu-Tang,Black Star, & Gang Starr existed... and that was it, straight Hip Hop beats from there in on. I was a graff head at first but till I got older and life was starting to get busier and more expensive I just stuck to beats. Touched a real MPC once lol other than that straight DAW's and plug-in's.....dope thread keep it going, though I thought there was a thread like this!? lol oh well

some of my music....

this right here.I remember when mtv mg2 dropped :krs: Started here, went to reason, then i got a midi keyboard and loved actual equipment then copped mpc's.

One of the reasons i love equipment is because i think its interesting to watch the process even though on the outside your watching people push buttons and turn knobs and wheels and you dont understand the process (its probably boring) but I remember using reason and seeing all the racks then actually seeing stuff in real life and watching my friends make beats on fruity loops and reason wasnt fun with all the pointing and clicking. A nikka needed gear in his life.

I just loved music and i found Hip-Hop to be really cool.
I didn't like being the frontman speaking on a show so i wanted to become a DJ.
But when i started buying gear i ended up buying the Roland MV-8000 first instead of a DJ-Set. I saw all these dope MPC videos on youtube around 2005.
It looked even cooler than DJ-ing to me.
So it basically started for me cause it was cool to me.

i always loved this hip hop shyt way too much to not at least try to make it my living, from listening to brazilian rappers when i was young and couldn't understand english, to almost learning english by myself to understand what 2Pac was saying, this shyt goes deep!

Dope thread. As someone who loves beats but doesn't produce, it's cool to get some insight

I only started making beats because I needed shyt to rap over. Was able to make some heat, but I'm an emcee at heart and would rather tell a nikka how I want a beat to be made and have them do it. :manny:

Ya'll brought back memories with the MTV Generator shyt. nikkas used to fukk with that heavy back in 2001-2003, before nikkas started fukking with mpc's and fruity loops. I still got a few tracks from them days.

Ive always loved music since I was a lil boy. I used to dance like muthafukka at parties
And I started to get more intersted and focused in HipHop around 2009. Some of my guys were already making beats, we started bonding thanks to that and finally I started because I thought I could make better beats than the shyt we used to hear on the radio.

Then Lex Luger dropped Hard in the paint and BMF...

OK
I started making beats because I don't have the money to pay for producers:wow:

But I actually prefer producing versus the emceeing...

Eventually I'll leave the rhyming alone to focus solely on beats, but not yet.. I still have too much to say.
