To be fair, the idea of the eggs coming from a queen was added by Cameron in the sequel and then retconned out by Ridley when he returned to the franchise. So I guess it depends on which iteration we're talking about:ehh:

If we are able to weaponize then.. short term of existing??? You could decimate a planet..then just clean up existing infrastructure.

Breh look at history. All the bio and chemical weapons used in WWI? Nukes? We made nuclear artillery shells. They WANTED to use that shyt in conventional war. If Weyland figured out a way to control xenomorphs (and license the OFF switch to the military) no doubt they'd be selling like double jawed hotcakes

It was just something new that they wanted to try out, the militaly spends billions in a bunch of shyt that they don't end up using, he probably wanted to see if they could drop it in secret into an enemy country and let nature take it's course, a Xenomorph could decimate an entire population without the need to start a war.
