i mean I guess it's dark but I don't remember thinking much of it as a kid. It's kind of like a warriors burial know? It's ceremonial, almost like a honor. That's how I took it at least. It was closure for luke and the entire series.

It was symbolic and it was their custom... Vader still came through in the clutch and saved Luke... Also it helps that no one could clone him with his DNA... like they did the emperor in the comics.
