I don't know what they could do with a 4th movie that hasn't been done on a bigger scale in the existing movies. I'm content to let it lie. And I'm a big fan of the movies and Animatrix. Reloaded is the best of the 3 movies to me

THe second 1 had an hour of just str8 classicness from the scene in the restaurant with the french cat stylin to his chick to the fight in the mansion to the greatest car chase put to screen pure piffery the rest of it tho

The first one was a classic and supposedly wrote by a black woman right? There's gotta be a reason the second too were lacking though they weren't as bad as people have made them out to be. They just had so much going on and it got confusing. But im suprised that no one has tried to reboot the franchise or make a prequel. Cause it definitely made money.

I'm a nerd so I enjoyed that long geeky convo Neo had with the Architect in that white lab with all the screens. I like that type of philosophical sh1t in my films. I could see how someone might be turned off by it tho.


I honestly don't even remember if that was the 2nd or 3rd film because I view the entire trilogy as just one long film, its impossible for me to separate them.


Its the same way I feel about The Back to the Future trilogy, u can't really judge the films as individual pieces of work, they're part of a larger body.

LOL @ people thinking "Reloaded and Revolutions" shattered the Franchise:

Reloaded: 750 Million Worldwide (Highest Grossing R Rated movie of All Time)
Revoluations: 450 Million Worldwide

=1.1 Billion (Released in the same year 5 months apart in the same year)


That's not counting DVD sales. The Matrix is one of the greatest franchises in Movie History. It changed Action movies forever. The original "Matrix" was just entered in the Library of Congress for being Culturally Historically significant only 13 years after it's release. People forget that The Matrix wasn't PG like Star Wars or PG13 like all the Marvel Movies. The Matrix is the Biggest Blockbuster "R" rated franchise in Movie history.

Now I understand the Sequels are polarizing but that's only cause of how Classic the original was there was no where to go but down. But Reloaded and Revolutions were pretty good Sci-Fi action Blockbusters. They just lacked the storytelling of the original film. Also "Reloaded and Revolutions" was basically one film broken into 2 films. Anyone thinking a "Matrix 4" wouldn't break the box office is kidding themselves. "Matrix 4" in 3D would smash the game.

Matter of fact if you release The original Matrix Trilogy in 3D today people would go back and see it. If you look at it the sequels have aged way better than people think. Matrix is a WORLDWIDE phenomenon till this day. Websites, Books, Religions, etc. Now I do think the Trilogy dropped the ball being the Next Star Wars as far as mixing Sci-fi, Fantasy, Action and Philosophy.

Again anyone saying the Matrix Trilogy isn't popular is lying out their teeth. How does a series gross 1.6 Billion while being "R" rated and be "Hated"? People that hate on the sequels act like nobody liked them and that's not true. "Reloaded" was an awesome sequel and so many "OMG" moments like the highway chase. "Revolutions" was the weak link but the Battle of Zion was dope and Neo fighting Smith in the Rain was Epic. I love the series. Also let's not forget "Animatrix" which was CLASSIC. The Matrix series again is one of the greatest sci-fi franchises in Movie History.

I can only watch the fight scene and car chase, which is dope as fukk, probably best action sequence of the entire trilogy. Rest of reloaded is boring as fukk. Revolutions is more boring shyt. Hated it.

I finally saw Reloaded and Revolution...I know, I know.

But, after Revolution, how could they possibly top Neo fighting the gazillion Smiths and the gazillion Sentinels attacking Zion.

Sidebar, Cinemax for showing back to back sequels a couple weeks ago.

And, the first Matrix is still one of the GOAT scifi movie to ever be conceived, because all that brand new sick camera work was unimaginable.

Remembers the first time seeing the Lobby shootout scene and Neo dodging those the bullets on the rooftop, way back in 99.

Also the thread title makes no sense. How did the Matrix Die? It grossed 1.6 Billion and it showed on TV regularly. It has sold MILLIONS on Home Video. Just cause they didn't rush and do a 4,5,6 doesn't mean it died. Also as for the rumors of a Part 4. "Cloud Atlas" Flopped and Keanu hasn't had a hit movie in years. I'm telling you now, if they announced a "Matrix 4 in 3D" the internet would explode with hype. The Matrix with 2013 Effects, Are you Kidding? People would line up worldwide:

Seriously tho, if it was only co directed by them i bet the series would still have some life. The movie shouldve stayed loading us with the pseudo earth piff instead of trying to break down everything about crusty ass zion. Some scenes were necessary, but that party scene, really tho... seeing neo smash... come on... and these humans expecting to throw rocks at giant tentacle armed mechs? It was unbelievable and took me out of the movie completely. And seriously, these machines had all the tech in the world but it took them a whole fukking hour in movie time to reach zion?

Action wise, second two stayed on point, story wise, they threw the entire franchise in the bushes. Animatrix tried to make up for it tho, thats the true legacy of part one imo

Yea I can't lie I tried for years to take up for the trilogy but man was it a jumbled mess. I remember going to see the second one being hyped as hell....and then the Rave scene in Zion happens...........that's the very moment where the movie and franchise as a whole went to shyt. I was straight confused when that shyt popped up and was looking around the theater at other peoples expression and they looked just as confused as me. That long drawn out speech by the architect.......aww man that shyt was a fukkin mess. Utter shyt. Great now I'm pissed all over again thinking about this shyt.
