Why did the Gen X generation - Matrix, Fight Club, RATM, MTV, Clerks, Nirvana, Wu Tang, Tupac, Woodstock 99 - All become MAGA Trumpers?

This was a generation that prided itself on bucking the system, being anti-religion, anti-authority, lazy, directionless, and eschewing societal expectations yet are the most far right generation, arguably more than Boomers?

They arguably grew up during the peak of human existence. Limited foreign wars, the US the unquestioned super power, entered the job market largely before the economic collapse and Bush wars. If you could send an email during the tech boom you were set for life.

I understand Gen Z. They’ll be fighting for scraps and wealth is less on ability and more on entertainment. When your peers can make thousands a day from selling feet pics or playing video games there is no point to believe in anything other than scamming.

But Gen X sold out and they didn’t even have a reason and told us for years they were the rebel generation. :francis:

I read an article yesterday.. Marc Cuban was bragging that the principles and progressive values of the Democratic Party were gone.

He was bragging to get other elites to join him in reshaping the new party that Kamala was building.

They went down the Illuminati conspiracy tunnel and exited the red pill neo conservative gift shop with lifetime memberships.

Every cult gets members interested by questioning the obviously questionable with them and then they get them to start questioning reality, gravity, space, the shape of planets, etc. Also it’s easy to unite people if you can show them an “enemy” who’s responsible for all of their problems.

Fake and was never real......alot of those folks were going through the made up concept of phases......they were out here being chameleons for who and whatever accepted them.......seems that they were eventually accepted by a cult masquerading as a political party

white people go through phases, They chose to fight for causes that have no connection to their lives electively. Then once they get bored they turn into their parents.

for example eminem the only white rapper that didn't eventually try to go rock or country and eventually abandon the audience that made them successful.
Literally every single other white rapper black folks hype up does that, from Vanilla Ice, to Kid Rock, to Post Malone

Yeah, I've seen a lot of white people get real conservative around age 30 or so :francis:

It's how some of them were raised. American society and the economy was drastically different for the Boomers and the promise of inheriting that world was the expectation for Gen X.

Being ear marked as the lazy/rebellious slackers was just part of their generational adolescence. Truth is they wanted the validation and acceptance of the Boomers but never got it. The economy crashing in 2008 coupled with the reins never being passed on left many of them disenfranchised. They were the first to get the shaft.

So in the face of a changing world, particularly two new generations with significantly different social mores in the form of Millennials and now Gen Z, Generation X has fallen back to the fundamentals that were enforced in their latchkey days by their inattentive Boomer parents.

Many of them aren't financially successful asset holders in their middle age, so appealing to authority figures like Trump or going down red pill conspiracy rabbit holes is a coping mechanism for bruised ego.

The boomers told them to behave or no inheritance

They were supposed to take the throne from them
