Why did most Hip-Hop producers still use MPC's and SP-1200's in the 90's???

@Method Man ay homie me and my boy went pawn hopping and record diggin today. At sols downtown off 16th and whatever by td ameritrade stadium where the cws was and centurylink center they have a Roland mv-8000 for $600. I had them plug it in and booted it up, it's legit dude was saying I could leave with it for $300 I told him I'd think about cause it ain't got the vga connection for a tv/cpu monitor and I ebay'd the part and it's like $200 I told him I'd see if I can get the connection for cheap.

All the buttons/pads/sliders worked, screens good. Idk if ur in the market for gear but it's pretty dope in this thread I posted some videos of one you can youtube it too or ask @DJ Dope-Needlz about them. Seems like it's worth a cop.

The MV is cool to have but i prefer FL Studio anyday.
A lot of producers find the MV better than the MPC though.

I have owned both the 8000 and 8800.
There's no big difference between them although the 8800 has a color screen build in the machine.

i'll have to see...i did find that since i know my way around mpc's that it really bit off a lot of the curve. i just had to take a minute to read all the buttons then i was like "okay, so if it's similar to the mpc then i should be able to do this function by roughly doin this..." and i navigated it quite well.

I have been using FL for 10 + years, and im all into daws and ish. nothing digital touches my akai s950 sound wise. it cant be duplicated with daws. those machines give umph you dont get digitally

s950 is digital to.
When it ends on a record a lot of times you can't even hear what it's made with.

Your right. But filtering bass on machines is what give those songs more punch than what we have now. My filter on my akai shots on all my daw filters and the sound difference is very aparent

I believe you
