Well I think its safe to say he named himself after the Al Pacino character.

He did....But the original movie was about an Italian gangster and the real Scarface was Al Capone. When Scarface the rapper named himself, that name was still more related to Al Capone then Al Pachino.

Who gives a fukk, Mafioso rap was still some of the best music ever made and that's all that matters :yeshrug:

If you really want to get into the technicals of it, my guess would be it was the natural step above Gangsta Rap. Gave them a way to talk that fly shyt while still being hood and dangerous.
