Why did it take Edge so long to pop?

Between the Cena thread and this one, the Ruthless Aggression/PG eras did a real number on you guys.

I'm a child of the late 2000s, so I feel weird about the Edge slander. Even if it took him a while to become a credible main eventer, it paid off because he was one of the best heels I've ever seen. He was the epitome of trash, doing whatever he could to get ahead. And I hated him for it. Edge was what would happen if "He can't keep getting away with it" was a person.

That 2006-2010 era

To add on, of course Edge looked like a star during that time when compared to guys like Kozlov, Khali, Mr. Kennedy, Heidrenrich, etc.

Edge spear is one of the most overrated moves ever. I get it you're not supposed to injure a guy like Goldberg does, but many wrestlers did the spear better, like Rhyno, Lashley, etc.

Edge just runs out there, hugs his opponent and gently slams him. I'm supposed to believe this move has landed him so many victories? Nah...

It all goes back to body type. Prime Goldberg was built like a roided to the gills football player, Rhyno was just a compact, thick, wrecking ball, and Lashley is like Goldberg but bigger.

Prime Edge was just a thin dude. His spear just wasn't as believable
