Have we been pushing culture, the importance of legacy, the black family
the boys to men cultural pipeline
for the last 50 years?
How many brothas have you heard over the last 40 years say something similar to "I grew up without a father. I understand how difficult that was. This is why I want to make sure I'm here for my children, to provide them with the things I didn't have growing up. Even if I'm not in a relationship with the child's mother".
Even rappers were calling out deadbeat bros.
Black men didn't go around telling other brothers that "we don't need no women" and that we can be "mother and father" to our children. We didn't go around encouraging single mother hood.
Now dudes like me have a negative opinion on marriage in the U.S., not because there is something wrong with the concept of marriage, but the penalty for a failed marriage is so high for men. Women can file for divorce for any reason and then you are at the mercy of the court (meaning as a man you will get NO mercy). You can lose everything that you worked for on a woman's whim, and let's not even mention the loss of access to your own kids!!
Nah you can't put this on men. American culture has been encouraging women to be on this bullshyt for the past 50 fukking years. If these women really cared about the legacy of the Black family they would
1. raise better women, actually teach their daughters how to be in a successful cooperative relationship with a man instead of these "imma kween/imma diva, I need to be catered to 24/7" fantasies
2. help men change some of these laws in regards to divorce and child custody
3. stop encouraging other women to have "hoe phases"
4. stop telling women they can do it all
Black men didn't break up the Black family. Black men didn't go around for the past 50 years convincing themselves that there are no good men out here and all the good men are in prison (lol). Black men didn't go around screaming that "all these nikkas are on the DL!" while being in a relationship with an obviously gay friendly nikka. Black men didn't make obesity the default setting. Black men didn't go around pushing intersectionality and that a man assuming his place as the rightful head of the household as toxic and "misogynoir".
WE DIDN'T START THE FIRE!!!!!
