Womens MMA basically just started and its not nearly as competitive as other "mainstream" sports. And it doesnt pay well yet. Its just marketing and entertainment at this point. It still needs to evolve a few more times before you see a wide array of world class athletes from all over.

I used to train in MMA back in the early aughts. They used to push the black girls into boxing and wouldn't book or support us for MMA fights. They still want their fighters looking "sexy" and approving of the white male gaze, even the gay/lesbian ones. The day this starts happening to little white and Brazilian girls...



...it's over for women's MMA.

definitely not. race is weird in Brazil. they don't have the whole 1 drop rule that the USA does. even when someone is half black or clearly mixed they don't consider themselves black.
