You're asking why gym equipment is popular in a gym :patrice:

If machines didn't have benefits, they wouldn't be there and used by everyone including swole nikkas. And let's stop acting like the gym is just for swole nikkas.

Machines are great for the disabled, elderly and folks recovering from injuries. I can tell cats who ain't been in the gym too long, start using noob talking points they've read online.

I have been going to the gym for a little over a year and posters in a TLR thread a while back told me I was wasting my time using the machines.

This is NOT an condsending thread, I'm not on some if you use weight machines you're a fakkit tip. I was legit wondering.

Ignore 95% of what you read about working out in TLR.

People say these aren't good yet they stay getting heavy usage at the gym...?
Since with most of them you're restricted to a very limited amount of workouts its easier for a newcomer to use and get a feel for targeting different muscles. When you add the diagrams, it'll be easier to work on their form and avoid injuries. I guess the reason they get flak is because more experienced lifters have a greater degree of freedom to do more robust/compound-focused lifts with free weights.

Even though I love powerlifting, I use everything. All of the machines offer great benefits to people, it doesn't make sense to not use the tools given to you.
