Why are there so many highly-regarded Black-cast flicks all of the sudden?

Why are Black-made films getting so much more critical acclaim than before?

Let Lupita eat if anything its Tessa Thompson that's everywhere
And she's the complete opposite of what Hollywood defines as its beauty standard, even for other Black female actors. Her starring in any movie is an act of defiance to the old status quo.

The black sitcom is dead (minus Black-ish) so films are the only place where we can eat now

Black ish is one of the few shows that’s figured out how to evolve the black sitcom for this era rather than something stuck in the 80s 90s or early 2000s.

@Rhakim You should've added an "other reason" option. 1 of the conspiracy theories I've speculated in the past, is to keep black people distracted. From what I understand, black folks watch more TV & consume more media than any other group.

In terms of quality though, Black creators are eating off TV in general too, you got Blackish, Empire, and Atlanta all at the same time.

Nah, cause that would hold more for the mass-produced comedies of the 1990s and 2000s. At lot of this stuff I'm talking about isn't catching eyes like that, it really is just quality.

The real reason is that blacks are the biggest followers and largest consumers. We give our money away the easiest of all races and cultures. So why not make films catered to the sheep?
