I am getting upset, there was no new episode last night and then I realized that there is only two episodes left this season :why:

The Sopranos had 13 episodes per year and the writers were going off the top of their heads and not following a book.

The Wire had twelve to thirteen episodes per year and that was the same case.

I would read the books but it won't be the same.

 HBO, you have a gold mind with this show and you are fukking it up.

I have half a mind to boycott next season. :birdman:

It's probably because of How huge a budget the show has.

Yeah, it's the budget. GOT has the largest cast of any show on TV, and literally ALL of the show is shot on location somewhere. Hell, the budget is part of the reason that characters just dissapear for a few episodes at a time.

I want to say budget?

The Wire and Sopranos had a regular setting and premise. With GoT it's a fantasy setting where you got costume design, CGI, so many characters, and so many places they go for filming. I guess that's why they confine the show for 10 episodes per season.

5-7 million dollars to make an episode. The logistics of writing, shooting, costume design, setting up locations, editing only allows for a Max of ten episodes in a Calender year.

The walking dead being split up is genius. Slot of walking dead fans are football fans and that break takes place right during all the playoff games and the Superbowl.

It is the budget.

The show is not cheap to produce. But I buy the DVDs to support.

Breh, this practice that all these cable networks are on with splitting seasons is some bullshyt. I get why they do it, since it artificially creates demand, and gives them essentially two premieres in on season to capture attention.

But these season splits are so unnecessary. There's no reason it should take you most of a year to air between twelve and sixteen episodes.

A lot of those series have episodes that are just filler for something bigger later. I feel like Game of Thrones really doesn't have throw-away episodes like that :manny:

GRRM works with peeps at HBO. They've already made major changes compared to the source material advised by GRRM, so he could create filler if he wanted to but the budget wouldn't allow it anyway.

1. Its the budget.

2. Honestly if they shot 13 episodes on the 1st half of book 3 there would be a lot of time devoted to things the average viewer would consider boring. A lot more political talk would be shown. There are battles and extended fights they didnt show in the 1st 2 seasons but that goes right back to the budget.
