Why are some white people so secretive about their salaries?

My white friends from college act like I'm asking to fukk their moms when I talk about salaries
It'll be randomly brought up in a convo..."I got a new job offer They are offering more 5,000 more per year"
Them: Let's not talk about this.
I'll disclose mine with no problem...IDGAF really
It's kind of a touchy topic because it can go two ways.
1. They make way more than what you make. They don't want to make you feel poor compared to them.
2. You make way more than them and they don't want you to feel like they are poor compared to you.
3. If someone discloses their income and they are making bank, there's a tendency for some people to be like, "let rich boy cover for lunch" or something ridiculous like that.

My folks never even told me how much they made :yeshrug:
Most people don't

Word. I just saw my mom's tax return for the first time when she was cosigning my loan for school. Had me like :mindblown::whoo::ohhh::gladbron::wow: I knew she was pulling in bread but not that much.

Real talk the only person who ever needs to know how much you make is your spouse for tax and other financial planning purposes.
