How come when soccer players bruise their knee, they roll around on the ground literally crying and putting their hands to their face and have to be carried off the field (messi did this not long ago). But rg3 can tear ligaments and is able to walk off under his own power and smile at people in the stands?

there's nothing to be gained by acting in football except for the punter if he gets touched. u get to the free throw line in basketball, you get the ball in soccer and give your team a breather or a penalty kick. Sometimes it may look small though but if you've ever played soccer all the little knicks that you take to your legs throughout the game add up and a small bit of contact can be pretty painful. but its mostly just sharp temporary pains so you'll limp for a bit then be good in a couple minutes. Bottomline it's mostly them baiting the other teams into fouls which affects their game, to bait a penalty kick if it's late and ur team needs a score, or they're just soft to begin with like ronaldo
