Bill's innocence isn't even material to this discussion. White people don't care if he's guilty of the crime, their only concern being how they can weaponize his downfall and include it within the arsenal of demonization they've historically targeted black men with. What I find problematic is when we fail to see that, despite the lessons of our past, and begin parroting white talking points as if we're viewing this through the same lens as our oppressor. Other men of note, from Matt Lauer to Woody Allen, walk free despite having been alleged to commit acts just as criminal and detestable as what Cosby now goes to prison for. So, no, I lose respect for black people that join in the chorus of condemnation towards Cosby. You're soft shoe c00ning.
