These songs popped into my head. Old head ATL brehs, what’s the story about how these similar hook songs dropped at the same time? Also, they were both big, the whoomp peaked higher, how did whoomp win the battle as far as the song that stick around for generations after? It’s just crazy cuz whoot has been all but written out of history other than for those who were there lol

Edit : how the hell yall labeling whoop as gentrified/for white people? :dahell: nothing about either of those songs says crated for white folk, they’re both black AF :rudy: maybe yall ATL brehs know more about the backstory of each group and local dealings etc, but as a kid on the other side of the country listening to both, both were that black booty music that for

got you dancing :yeshrug:

How Whoot isn’t winning this is wild. Whoot always been the better song.

Whoot is basically the 90s Rumpshaker but didn’t get that MTV push like Whoomp did.

Whoot is the better song

Both have the same catchy hooks. But the Tag Team song has more universal appeal. The lyrics and hook are not directly about ass and booty which can allow the hook to be applied to different shyt like sports highlights, commercials etc.

Whoot was targeted at a specific group, young black folks
Whoot is the real black version, my folks used to cut up to that shyt :lolbron:
