When I was in college, I stopped by this store at the mall...I forget the name but they sold barbershop supplies, things like that.
So I went in to get one of those trimmers that had attachments for beards/nose..etc

Three white guys in there. All shaved bald. It didn't even register in my mind that they were neo Nazis until I went to pay, and on the skin of his hand, between the thumb and pointer finger was a swastika tattooed.

I looked over my shoulder just to see where the other 2 guys were. I paid and walked out quick.
It was in a quiet area of the mall and they could have kicked my ass for a good 5 minutes before any police would be able to show up.

Just as a side point, not all skinheads are neo nazis. The neo nazis actually took the look of the skinhead movement in europe. But that's another story.

I suppose it depends on the conditioning.
I'm sure a group of white guys walking up the street in South Boston would make some people just as uncomfortable as a group of black guys in Brownsville.
There's no denying that history and media has conditioned many Americans to view blacks with fear, though.
I like to think that people won't do anything to you unless you provoke them (generally, anyway).

90% of South Boston is soft and gentrified now. any black can go to almost any bar or street. overall Boston is much softer than it was 7 years ago and much softer than it was in the 90's to the 50's

Boston is majority minority and has been for awhile. id say Boston is one of the most diverse and prosperous cities in the country

its a real "happening" city. one of the youngest in the country and most diverse and liberal. Boston is not struggling. ive been to a ton of other cities and other than our winter weather no where really competes except the goat NYC
