There has been some movement on the planned cinematic biopic on WWE's Vince McMahon, Pandemonium, which is being put together by TriStar and WWE Studios.
The current strategy is to try and attach an "A" level name to the project in order to fast track the project. An offer was made several weeks ago to representatives of Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper with the idea of Cooper starring as McMahon, according to a well placed source familiar with the project. Whether Cooper is receptive to the idea remains to be seen, but PWInsider.com has confirmed the offer was made.
The script to Pandemonium was written by Craig A. Williams (who wrote Disney's live action Underdog adaptation few years back) back in 2015 and has undergone several drafts. The belief was that once WWE Studios became involved with the project, the existing script would undergo heavy rewrites to remove some of aspects of the film that the McMahon family would not be happy with. On Page 2 is a reprint of my April 2017 article looking at the then-existing versions of the screenplay, including some racy elements that would not factually match the McMahon family history.
Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the team that directed the pilot for excellent NBC drama This is Us are attached to direct Pandemonium. Their most feature film was Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, which starred Tina Fey. Michael Luisi (head of WWE Studios, which came on board after the script was bouncing around Hollywood independent of WWE) and Aperture Entertainment's Adam Goldworn will produce. Charlie Gogolak of Zaftig Films is attached as Executive Producer.
Cooper actually appeared, briefly, on a June 2007 episode of Monday Night Raw promoting the feature film version of The A-Team.
