Drake is a singer/songwriter but he's a rapper first. Him against any of those artists, outside of Jay and Kanye, would be an odd matchup considering every Verzuz has had similar competitors.

Now I'm not gonna sit here and say "Missy only has 7 songs she can play at a Versuz" because that would be a lie. But it's also true that the biggest singles tend to win out.
Drake has 40 top ten records, fam. The most, of all time. And we've already established that "bububu nobody listens to those songs today" is bullshyt, given that virtually all his albums are still on the weekly Billboard album charts. And I don't want to hear anything about "bububu it doesn't resonate." You're grown, I'm grown. By now it should be established and understood that the music people grew up with and went through life listening to becomes the most important music of their life. The music you played on your first date, the music you played in your first car, the music from your HS prom, the music that played when you got laid, the music you played throughout college escapades and heartbreaks. And for people who are 18-34...that music is Drake.
That's the crux of my argument. Sure there are people who went through all that life stuff while bumping Missy. But they were probably bumping other artists at the time more (Hov, DMX, Nelly, Beyonce, KANYE, etc). The problem for you is that more 18-34 year old Versuz viewers and social media participants than any other demographic. So again, please explain to my how Missy beats the guy whose music is the soundtrack of the viewers' lives.

Coming from a huge Missy fan but also a blog/mixtape era baby, Drake hits harder for me. I can listen to "Sock It 2 Me" a million times but it still won't have the same effect that I get when I hear "Fear". MJ is a totally different beast who spans generations, young and old. Hits be damned. Missy is not in that category.
VERZUZ ISNT ABOUT QUALITY. What are yall not getting? The creators of the platform, Timb & Swizz, had their second battle and still didn't get into their bags because they know they have to cater to a mostly casual audience. That means playing their biggest songs, not the best. The only person who deviated from that was Brandy when she faced Monica; Monica was playing boring singles while Brandy played fire B-sides that her fans wanted-- Monica still won those rounds.
