If there was one name I had to take out, it would be Max B since he's a much bigger name now.

None of these are really underground. They all had majors behind them at some point in their careers or still do.


I know Black Thought did I wasn’t sure about Mos Def which is why I included him on my own list but even artists like Masta Ace at one point were on Major Labels correct? I think if you did 1 or 2 albums on a Major but the MAJORITY of your work is independent you can qualify as underground. Like i’d qualify Joe Budden as Underground even though his debut was on a Major most of his classic material was independent.
