Lazenby, the studio had it out for him because he wasn't Connery and was constantly giving him shyt. They did offer him a contract, but he walked. He thought hippies and the cultural Revolution would kill Bond. He thoght a hero in a suit in the Beatles and Woodstock’s time wasn't going to last.

He did his thing as a young cocky bond I thought, on the edge of becoming cold and ruthless. He carried himself quite well in action scenes and played up the gentleman aspect up pretty well.

Connery. I have Craig in 2nd though. Enjoyed his portrayal even when the direction of his Bond wasn’t as traditional as the past iterations. Casino Royale is a classic and the fact that he got to work with Deakins is something the others can’t really say. It was wild to watch him go from hated on when first cast to now beloved.

They weren't really trying with Bond at that point in the 90s, they were just making sure he kept coming back for the standard adventure every couple of years.
