I voted Drake initially when this poll went up

But looking back… the worst thing that can happen in a rap beef is having your legacy tied to another artist.

If Ja Rule does an interview today, 99% of the questions people REALLY wanna ask him will be about his beef with 50. But in a 50 Cent interview, it would be the opposite.

It’s the same with Canibus and LL, Flip and T.I., etc.

It might be a little too early to compare drake with ja rule. In a few more years, we’ll have a full grasp on how Drake’s legacy will be impacted by this beef. Right now the most damaging blow Drake suffered from the beef if the pedo allegations. But that stuff was already out there and Drake knew it was going to come to light, that’s why he tried to get in front of it on Taylor Made freestyle. Obviously it didn’t soften the blow from NLU tho

This is apples and oranges because Drake doesn't do interviews.

If he did as many interviews as the artists you listed, he would be getting asked about Kendrick for the foreseeable future. The lawsuit will probably stretch until 2026.

Which brings me to my next point, the lawsuit. That alone puts him in a different category than Ja, or anyone else.

Man accused "NLU" of being antisemitic in a Federal lawsuit and cats are acting like this is a good conversation. :mjlol:

No offense to the OP but this is a ridiculous comparison. And disrespectful to Ja.

I mean it's like that now except the sample isn't the same. Drake doesn't do interviews and didn't before, but everything he does since Spring 24 comes back to how much damage has been done. Partly because of him & his lawyer telling how much damage was done, but also the lower charting singles and flop tours. It all goes back to Spring 24, just like it would 04-05 for Ja. Murder Inc also kinda evaporated and Ja went to prison not long after so of course people will spend more time talking about that period, not just 50's involvement.

Kenny's name doesn't come back to Drake unless it's the SB or NLU at Grand National, like I said the parallels are there now.

Recency bias is Drake but I think it has to be Ja. The whole label was on top then turned into air and were never heard from again unless Irv was chasing young p*ssy, Ashanti was getting flown out by dookie sheiks, or Ja's getting wrapped up in ponzi scheme festivals.

Aubrey's disintegration has been something but not as bad imo. He hasn't gone to prison, he's been pissed on but it wasn't after sex at least that night, he hasn't publicly crashed out over young p*ssy (yet). And while not the same as it was, some base is still there, things just won't ever be the same. I remember people being off it and riding 50's wave like unquestioned.

I agree with the lawsuit stuff but it doesn't hurt somebody like Drake as much as it would Ja or another rapper. Aubrey's a pop star and the number of people he reaches is larger, so fewer people will care. Obviously Drake's credibility as a "rapper" is cooked, he's showing with it he doesn't care about being a "rapper"

It’s not really about interviews. It’s more about how 20 years later, after all of Ja’s hits and accomplishments, the public has reduced his legacy to being the guy who got spanked by 50. I’m just saying it might be kinda early to compare the two right now because drake hasn’t fallen off (yet).

But I see where you’re coming from, especially with the lawsuit stuff. Being “The first rapper ever to sue over a rap beef” will definitely leave a stain on his legacy and won’t be easily forgotten when it’s all said and done.
