I'm not talking about "Punk should have headlined Mania" type shyt, I'm looking for fringe dudes who you thought absolutely had something, only for them to completely drop whatever little momentum they had.

My big one is "Above Average" Mike Sanders. I completely thought this dude had next. Everything he did, I thought he did really well. Same thing for Jidrack and Ohaire, these dudes were jacked as fukk, young, and were throwing Swanton bombs as easily as powerbombs. I never liked Palumbo or Staziak, but the OG natural born thrillers (jidrack and Ohaire with Sanders as the manager) I was convinced were going to rule wrestling eventually, Outsiders style.

Same time period, Lance Storm and Elix Skipper. Skipper's ripoff DMX theme went hard, and his insistence that he "built this house" no matter where they were was always funny. Plus, dude could fukking GO in the ring.

Storm, I almost saw as a modern/future Bret type. Take no shyt Canadian who doesn't have time for your bullshyt, but will outwrestle the fukk out of you. At least he had the multi title gimmick in the dying days of WCW, and probably a US, hardcore, or maybe short IC run in WWE. I don't think anyone else I mentioned here got anywhere near the accomplishments and adulation that they deserved.

Oh, and Kanyon. Motherfukker would have been main eventing the Tokyo dome if he was born a decade or two later than he was. Man probably invented more wrestling moves than anyone since the fukking 1940s.

Just thought of another one, Hakushi (Kensuke Shinzaki) in WWF in 94 or whenever he was there. Dude should have had an IC title run at the least. At least the Bret matches were good.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Ryback. WWE desperately needed a new top star at the time and they completely fukked it up because they booked themselves into a corner.
I was kind of on and off with E around that time, but didn't Cena get injured hence why Ryback got the call to face Punk at HIAC? That was a tough spot for them to be in, but that's also their fault because they had no other top faces at the time. I know some people were calling Ryback the Mr. Pibb version of Goldberg, but there was no doubt about it, he was over like rover with the audience. Having him fall victim to Punk multiple times and then later The Shield really killed his momentum.

Shelton Benjamin is someone I really feel did not get to his ceiling during his first run, I was a big fan. Someone that talented, give them a mouthpiece, give them whatever gimmick to get em over imo.

Mustafa Ali still has an upside imo, if he never does anything else with his career, it's a shame

If Raven had gone to WWE in 1997/1998 instead of WCW he probably would have been in Main Event programs regularly.

Kanyon (even though he has some influence now with Brian Cage being a trainee and I guess the Young Bucks were under his learning tree as well), would/should have been a legend/HOFer. As you pointed out, if he's born a decade later, he's probably Main Eventing a Wrestlemania.

Vince never liked Raven. Vince thought Raven was a bad influence on Shane because Raven & Shane would party together whenever Raven was Johnny Polo in the early 90s :pachaha:
