Slug is like the only backpacker rapper worth the hype. Dude is crazy talented and Overcast is an underground classic imo. I used to love introducing it to people, they would always ask to borrow it or make them a copy. Nah man just buy it, lol.

It just ain't the same looking back at it now because battle rap is so different
It was all about freestyling off the top of the dome to a beat back then. Now it's about written Raps without a beat. Completely different way of battling
Back then if they thought your Raps was written you would get clowned instantly

Another huge difference is now in battle rap they know who their opponent is gonna be months ahead of time and they got mad time to prepare for them and write stuff about them. Back then they didn't know who they was gonna end up battling in these Blaze competitions. They had to make up something right there on the spot.
This is why I got Charlie Clips and Hallow Da Don in my top 5 battle rappers of all time. They're both dope at writing Raps and freestyling off the top of the dome in battles. They would be dope in any era. Eyedea wouldn't be taking seriously in a 2018 URL battle where gun bars rule
