This isn't the same thing, but I remember an interview with Kirsten Dunst not to long after the 2002 Spider Man movie. That movie was a phenomenon that opening weekend.

She was talking about how, literally, she was out on the streets shopping and stuff that weekend and maybe 1 in a 100 people might sort of kind of recognizer her, if that...maybe no one....and by the end of the weekend it was like someone had flipped a light switch and she was a "famous person" and it freaked her out. That has to be weird, to go from just doing your thing and being a normal person to everyone knowing you overnight.
