Who is branded a "technical wrestler" but doesn't deserve that title?

Agreed with KOR. His wrestling style is weak. :trash:

I never heard of Punk or Flair considered to be technical.

Sidenote: I always thought ZSJ was a flippy dude until I saw him wrestle Martin Stone a few years back. Surprised it turned out to be a good technical match, def MOTN. Not sure what most people view him as though.

I'm not a fan of ZSJ but I'm 100% positive you were mixing him up with someone else (maybe Ospray) because he was never even close to a flippy guy and during his whole career has been know for doing a style based on holds and grappling (to me, real technical wrestling).

ZSJ is a prime example of wrestler that often tries too hard to be technical. A lot of homie's matches feel like you're watching someone perform a kata for a lot of his control segments. Even worse when he starts chaining holds.

He's just a showy wrestler. He likes his holds and sequences to look cool and certainly is able to do that. His best trait is his innovation or willingness to keep shyt on the mat, which makes him stand out. To me though, his act gets old fast and very rarely I feel he actually wants to win a match and he's more concerned in showing how impressive his mat wrestling is.

You’re right! I only assumed he was a flippy guy based on his looks cause he reminded me of Ospray, on some ignorant shyt. :russ:

Best Hart basically worked brawls for the majority of his career.

He did, but I think being adept at submissions earns you the title of being a technical wrestler.

Bret could wrestle Austin in a brawl or a guy like Malenko

What does that mean? :pachaha:

According to this thread there aren't any I guess :mjlol:

There are a good number of them but that's not what American wrestling has been about for half a century so it gets kinda silly when doing a couple of holds and a submission is enough :yeshrug:

Guys like Timothy Thatcher and Drew Gulak were legit technical wrestlers before going to WWE. I didn't follow much of them once they got there but what I saw from them, they were still leaning in that direction :yeshrug:

It means we know Brets background coming from the dungeon, and that type of mat submission wrestling, different holds etc.

So reputation? How does that make him "technical" when he's brawling or just doing an overall performance (incorporating a bunch of things from different styles) most of the time? :patrice:

This is why the definition is too broad, imo.
