if we are comparing strictly on punching...wilder prolly hits harder..because compact or wound up..his right hand ices nikkas without so much as a delivery system or a consistent plan of attack to the body

now if we are looking at who notably theyve stopped or damaged with that power...its still shavers

all the notable 70s and early 80s heavyweights all say shavers...

ali took 15 rounds of bombs from shavers and lost 3 of his 4 last fights as a result..the candle was snuffed out
holmes who rarely likes to give credit to fighters doesnt hesitate to say shavers hit him the hardest and he got ko'ed by mike tyson
james quick tillis also fought shavers and tyson..says it was shavers by a mile
tex cobb was talking about no one hit harder than shavers and if they did he'sdshoot them :heh:
jimmy young was only knocked down in his career and out by shavers and says it was shavers...he fought some punchers

even the journeymen from that era...i remember reading a story about a journeyman named leroy caldwell...dude fought cleveland williams, foreman, ron lyle, and shavers. dangerous all time great punchers..he said it was shavers by a mile

those are some endorsements...shavers wasn't even the greatest boxer either...he was chinny, stamina a little suspect, could be outboxed but you couldn't let him hit you like that lol..other than jerry quarry no one bombed him out quick..he was a dangerous guy
Facts. Plus he built like clubber Lang

i think the difference between shavers and wilder is that wilder will take 20 minutes to time you with a right hand you dont see and shavers will just hit you. but shavers, not wilder, is the last guy i want to hit me, if he waited for 20 minutes to hit me with his best right hand. put it that way.

I personally think he tries to hard when making calls.

He calls boxing the similar to how he calls wrestling even though they require different nuances.

i agree..the enthusiasm is there but dude needs to realize they are both separate things..the niche of boxing/wrestling fans is pretty small

I'll say Shavers cause every of Shavers' power punches were potential knockout punches while Wilder's straight and overhand right are great in power his left hand isn't that much

shavers was a killer who fought killers and very skilled fighters.

wilder is a killer but fought trash to average fighters in comparision.
People will keep saying this, but what does that have to do with each fighter's individual power? Are better HOF fighters be able to withstand a right hand any better? Because I think regardless of the fighter, a clean right hand from Wilder will take out just about anybody. If the argument is that better fighters wouldn't get hit with that clean shot, I think that's a different argument.

I think Shavers and Wilder have different kind of power as others have said here. Shavers has more cumulative punches that will hurt your ass all fight. Wilder doesn't land hard punches over and over all fight. But for a singular one punch KO, I don't know if anybody tops Wilder.

shavers hurts with every touch

wilder whips one bomb in & catches opps with the snap

one you are trying to avoid every punch the other you are trying to stay away fro that one bomb
