Blacks 317% more likely to receive welfare benefits than whites.... would have been more accurate from a mathematical perspective (.40/.63) x .125/.25).The question is what percentage of each demographic is on welfare? not what percentage of welfare recipients fall into what demographic...I dont get how this is still a thing.
I think people see past the statistics in the OP. But if people are going to point out how "lazy: black people on food stamps put a "heavy" burden on taxpayers, then the amount of white people being on food stamp is relevant here.
If you wanted to know why so many black people are on food stamp on the other hand, then you'd demand more numbers to try 2 understand why the percentage of black people on food stamps(relative to total black population) is so much higher than any other race.
Here are the numbers from SNAP's website
43% of SNAP participants are white, 33% are African-American, 19% are Hispanic, 2% are Asian, and 2% are Native American.
Again, this statistic implies (or is being taken as saying) that roughly 40 percent of whites are on snap, as are roughly 25 percent of blacks. That is not accurate. "40 percent of snap recipients are white" which a completely different proposition than "40 percent of whites are snap recipients"
Basically, it's trying to say, "whites are more need of public assistance," even though thats no where close to the truth.
We need to understand that there is a much higher percentage of blacks on welfare than that of whites, which is belied by this statistic(and others like it). It makes it seem like the problem (whatever you think the problem is, depending on your perspective) is spread evenly(or hurting whites more), when in fact it very much is not.
Leftist bullsh*t like this is the worse... and just as racist IMO as rights depiction of the welfare queen. In facts I think its worse, cause it attempts(successfully i see) to silence critics of the racist system we live in, and strengthen cac control over the black community.

WASHINGTON -- Gene Alday, a Republican member of the Mississippi state legislature, apologized last week for telling a reporter that all the African-Americans in his hometown of Walls, Mississippi, are unemployed and on food stamps.
"I come from a town where all the blacks are getting food stamps and what I call 'welfare crazy checks,'" Alday said to a reporter for The Clarion-Ledger, a Mississippi newspaper, earlier this month. "They don't work."
Nationally, most of the people who receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are white. According to 2013 data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which administers the program, 40.2 percent of SNAP recipients are white, 25.7 percent are black, 10.3 percent are Hispanic, 2.1 percent are Asian and 1.2 percent are Native American.
In the two congressional districts that overlap Alday's state legislature district, more African-Americans than whites receive food stamps, according to USDA data.
Twenty-three million households and 47 million Americans received benefits on an average month in 2013; enrollment declined slightly to 22 million households and 46 million individuals in 2014. Three-quarters of those households included a child, an elderly person or someone with a disability. The average monthly benefit per household was $274 in 2013 and $256 last year.
Republicans are conducting a review of nutrition assistance with an eye toward figuring out how to nudge more people into the workforce. In recent years Republicans have lamented that a growing share of recipients are able-bodied adults without children -- a group that made up 10.2 percent of beneficiaries in 2011, up from 6.6 percent before the onset of the Great Recession in 2007. (The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities estimates that 1 million people will be kicked off the rolls by next year as states reimpose time limits on childless, non-disabled adults.)
Nearly one-third of food stamp beneficiaries lived in a household where at least one member had some earned income in 2013. Different states have different eligibility rules for the program, but federal law puts the upper income limit at 200 percent of the poverty line, currently $20,090 for a family of three. Many SNAP recipients qualify based on their participation in another means-tested program, such as Medicaid or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
According to the statistics in this article, it is mostly people of color who get food stamps. How can it be mostly white people if white people aren't even a majority of food stamp recipients?

I get what you're saying. This has potential to be used as a way to show blacks don't need welfare as much as whites. Even though it eh context of Americas race dynamic that couldn't be further from the truth. Hopefully that's not how people will take it. Any reasonably intelligent person would see that being 13% of the pop but using 25% of snap is more then cacs being 64% of he pop and using 40%. But, that hinges on the perception of the reader. If you have a context that black people are systematically poor, you would understand the info.
