The director doesn't make bad movies so I'll probably peep eventually
Only @StraxStrax and @TheGodling
This shyt will flop and flop hard. Even listened to a few summer box office wager podcasts () and none of those nerds had it on their list either.
If every current subscriber buys a ticket opening weekend they only do 12 mil
They better hope its a smash overseas because i dont even see it hitting 60 mil domestic. Has no buzz
I may have to change my box office projection based the awful marketing
I was thinking the same thing the other day. I don't know what the fukk Universal and Legendary are doing but the marketing for this has been the absolute worst. I don't know if they pull the same BS in the US but over here they play the trailer before IMAX screenings, then follow it up with a two minute "IMAX Exclusive" that consists of a promo interview with Duncan Jones and some cast members saying incredibly generic shyt like 'I've never seen anything like this before' and 'This movie's scale is just so massive' accompanied by footage from the same fukking trailer they just showed beforehand. You can literally sense it killing any buzz the movie has.
I still think the movie will do well in Europe and Asia because the market for (medieval) fantasy is way bigger there plus you got the huge installed fanbase, but the movie is going to need some serious good word of mouth a la Edge Of Tomorrow to make up for the shyt-ass marketing.
Warcraft is my life!
Ragnar Lothbrok is my fave
This movie is gonna be fukking BOSS.
We actually talked about this in the official thread, breh.
15 year old tomb raider is still the gighesr grossing vg movie breh. When all us millennials were teens wanting to pop woid to Jolie when she still had t*ts and it only did 131 mil
Here's another good example. They showed a trailer at the PAX East conference for the movie that everybody was gushing over.
What does Universal do? They actively track down and delete the cam footage of the well-received trailer because they decided to release this shyt instead:
Another shoddy ass trailer that doesn't explain the simplest story beats with some completely misplaced EDM rock song or whatever the fukk you want to call it because some dude in marketing probably was like 'teenagers will love that kind of song, and they're our target audience, right?'. It just shows that they don't fukking understand what this movie is, who it should be marketed to and how.
Doubt it mattered anyway breh.
15 year old Tomb Raider is still the highest grossing VG movie. All us millenials were still teens and wanted to pop wood to Jolie when she still had the t*ts and it only did 131
China is a major player now so if they're lucky they may do 200 something ww
Breh even force awakens only did 125 in china. You sorta had history backing you up for a minute there but then you just had to go and say something stupid like that.
Fantasy movies for years now get 70 to 80% of their box office from foreign markets. Vin Diesel's The Last Witch Hunter did like 140 million worldwide and made only 27 million in the US. You know where it also made 27 million? China alone! While the Hobbit trilogy fell slightly in box office with each movie, the Chinese box office for the movies grew from 49 million to 74 million to 121 million! That's a 160% increase on each movie. The Chinese box office is absolutely on fire for fantasy and you think that Warcraft might not do 200 million worldwide? What the fukk is wrong with you, breh?
Breh even force awakens only did 125 in china.
And I'm not getting into the genre debate
You were saying this movie would do a billlion a few months ago
Most people forgot this is coming out and the average moviegoer has no clue who duncan jones is.
I predict most people will opt to see conjuring 2 that weekend and then the week after finding dory crushes buildings
They should push it back to january or FebruaryI don't know why Star Wars did low numbers like that when Jurassic World did over 200 million and Furious Seven did almost 400 million in China (maybe it's the season? ) but it's not my fault Universal dropped the ball on the marketing so bad. Warcraft is a billi franchise no doubt about it but as we recently saw with BvS anything can happen when incompetence takes over.
They should push it back to january or February
