Bench doesn't phase me that shyt is not even physically taxing. Dumbbell bench can be scary though.

For deads I have to be havin a damn near perfect day to do well :to:

Squats and bench are probably more intimidating than any other lift for me because it's usually more embarrassing if I fail. If I deadlift/ military press and can't get the rep out, I can either drop it/ rack it without needing assistance. Bench/ squats on the other hand :merchant:

one trick i picked up from youtube: after you're done warming up for the work load, put on the weight minus 5 pounds and do like 1 or 2 reps. they said it prepares you mentally for the work load and it also prepares your nervous system apparently. only 1 or 2 reps though (max 3) to not get tired.

This is how I warm up for deads. 3x225, 275, 315, 1x365, work set. Perfect, hasnt failed me yet.

I started doing back squat warmup sets before my DL work sets. Helps preserve grip strength which has always been very limiting. Works for me :yeshrug:

:wow: I do. Because a bad lifting session is a TURRBLE feeling.

:bryan: one of the worst feelings breh its like u just wasted your time. I use it as motivation and kill it the next time.

this is why i got off strong lifts. that heavier, heavier, heavier shyt was going to eventually get me injuried.

Word. I thought I was the only one who felt like that. I was stuck on a few of my lifts for a few weeks. I ended up moving on to another program.

I just started benching a few weeks ago after only doing squats, militarys, and deads. I can tell there's going to be a fear factor there because there is the possibility of that bar coming down on you like that cat from USC. Deads, if it's too heavy - that shyt aint coming off the ground. lol

For squats, I always do them with spotter bars in correct height. If I have to drop the barbell on the spotter bars, then I do. There's nothing wrong with asking someone to spot you too.
When going heavy on bench, I ask someone to spot. Tell them I'm going for one or whatever number of reps. No negatives. If you don't tell them, they might assume you want to do negative, all the while, you are wishing they would take the bar and you are almost at losing all strength.
