It's very simple actually. What is this shyt how does MTV survive off of this shyt? I realize I'm not the first to make a thread about this but how has this been sustainable long term?
Ridiculousness is an extremely cheap show to produce, with an extremely fast turnaround (they're shooting over 200 episodes a year now).
It has no revolving door cast or storylines to keep track of, which means there isn't a large cast or writing staff to pay.
The episodes can be aired in any order, and viewers can tune in to any random episodes and get the gist of the show immediately.
In the current era of TV,more networks are filling hours with 'fluff' programs like Ridiculousness, and putting all of their other shows on their respective streaming services. TBS and TNT have canceled all their scripted shows, and cable networks are relying more on cheap reality TV. And on broadcast TV even the reality and talk shows are getting canceled for cheap local news broadcasts.
Ridiculousness is not the first show to overtake a whole channel's schedule like this, and it won't be the last. Nickelodeon has been doing the same with SpongeBob and Cartoon Network has been doing the same with Teen Titans Go for well over a decade.
