i agree with everything you said except the Obi part. Thibs already ruined Obi, if he's gonna succeed, its gonna be on a different team in a different system where a different coach rebuilds his game. He ain't doing that here, 3 years of jacking up 3s with no room to make mistakes is too much.

Randle is older, but he is still young. and he isn't selfish on the same level RJ is. Randle lets Brunson do his thing and even looks for him when he is hot ( like yesterday)

when RJ gets the ball, it always seems like he's just going for his. His style of play and how he gets shots is annoying

Obi isn't ruined. He has an all star in front of him.

he isnt a three point shooter and thibs has pretty much forced him into that role da last 3 years.
imagine if we had a rookie amare stoudemire and we brought him off da bench to launch up 3s for 6 mins on da wing and occasionally catch a lob.

He's better off somewhere else.

That's the crazy thing about Obi. Thibs told him he has to shoot threes and rebound better on the defensive glass (which neutered his ability to kill teams in transition). Obi's improved a lot in both areas. He's hitting 37% of his three's and attempting more than ever. His defensive rebound percentage is the highest of his career. Thibodeau is STILL benching him after 5 mins. I don't think Thibodeau's ruined Obi; but it's hard to tell because Obi barely gets a chance to play. If they opened up the game so the kid could do more, I think the added three-point shooting would make him a better weapon than ever.

Randle's not young anymore, he's 28. He's got a couple of years of prime athleticism, so if we plan to keep him than we gotta go win-now before he starts fading and needs another contract extension. We're not winning anything as currently constructed. So I lean on the 22-year old with an extra year on his contract because I think that gives more time to build and develop the rest of the roster.

Disclaimer though: If we could use RJ to bring in a star, I'd do that. Same with Randle. But I think we're more likely gonna have to just move one of them and then chase a star with younger guys and picks either way.

Also, about last night. I think they both played like trash.

Obi's better off somewhere else I agree...Indy would get so much out of him. But I don't want to give him away. I want Thibs and possibly the FO to go before Obi does at this point. We can't go back to pick Haliburton instead, but we could fire the dudes that screwed it all up and give Obi a clean slate.

It's still easily Randle for me. He's older, on a bigger contract, as bad or worse defensively, harder to build around, and we have a potential replacement that showed out when he got minutes last season but whose barely breaking 10 minutes a game this season.
Truth! 100% agree & that’s the approach we should be taking but the FO…….

im just trying to think realistically
i would prefer to have thibs fired too but he best friends with leon rose lol and Rose just got a vote of confidence from Dolan. Neither of those guys are going anywhere anytime soon.

We'll be here february 1st in 2024 and if Obi is still on the team, he'll be doing the same exact shyt he is doing now lol

Your basketball knowledge is limited if you think OG Anunoby is a better basketball player than RJ Barrett.
Man, I think Kevin Knox, Doug McDermott and Niqqalini is better than RJ.

At least he could hit his open shots and /or follow up with a rebound without looking lost in the sauce like :wrist: while that sh!t bricks off the backboard hard.
