Thibs should've made adjustments to the defensive scheme for Hart' and/or Sims' minutes sooner anyway. That drop coverage got crushed tonight without Mitch.

This season is a wash but I’m not stressed by it. This team could be and literally was worse a few weeks ago when they looked like trash. The drop coverage is flawed against elite iso players but with some better wing defenders I think it could work. There have been flashes of them playing better on both sides of the ball. The affordable trio of Randle/RJ/Brunson look like they can carry an offense every night.

The issue is they need more two way player depth that Thibs (aka the shadow GM) will play and the best chance of that happening is after the season ends… probably in the draft. The Knicks need to grab an Alex Burks big point guard type player and a OG Anunoby combo forward defender and I would like to see what this team can do with its bench shored up. So if the Knicks lose cool, better pick in the late teens, if they get to the playoffs cool, more experience for the team.

Things I want to see is them trading Cam, maybe trade Obi for a future assets, draft guys that Thibs will play and just let both Rose and Fournier expire. The Knicks don’t have to do much to be a consistently good team in the near future. They might have been a better team now if the FO didn’t completely mess up the 2021 FA.

They aren’t a legit yet, but they can get there.
