Simmons suggested the Bulls blow it up and the Knicks trade Obi, Fournier, salary (would have to be Rose) and our ‘23 top 4 protected first (we’re likely to get Washington’s and Dallas’s firsts this year) for Lavine. While Lavine was the star I could see shaking free this season since last winter… his numbers have been down all across the board and his contract is filthy.
I’d only do it if it meant RJ was benched and IQ (Edit: Meant Grimes not IQ) still started, but that’s not going to be the case.

Closing thoughts wound up fitting in nicely with Begley’s report that the entire organization is under a microscope right now. I think they’ll make a win-now move and I’m scared it’ll be a desperate one instead of a measured one. But a good move that balances things out would be nice.

Before I clicked on this thread I saw a Bill Simmons hypothetical trade proposal where the Lakers get DeRozan and Vucevic for Russ and two unprotected picks and realized Lavine will likely get traded to us and that scares me. Lavine's knees are ticking 50,000,000$ time bombs. He's not in the same league as Mitchell, Booker or Jaylen Brown and a bad fit in general in the team. The Knicks need to stay the course and wait for a better star or admit they lost their guy in Spida and blow it up.

I would, easily. We'd have to make other moves though; DeRozan makes for kind of an odd fit too, but he's good enough to warrant working around that.
