Yes, no matter how bad he bums it up he gets handled with kiddie gloves. All type of excuses will come out he has the flu, he’s just going through a slump, he isn’t being used right, he always starts slow, he’s only 22, he’s a third option, it’s only a matter of time, it’s someone else’s fault (usually Thibs or Julius). During this offseason the majority of Knicks fans were adamantly against including Barrett in any trade for a star player.

Barrett and Ntilikina have/had an immunity with Knicks fans I haven’t seen with previous Knicks prospects. This guy is in his fourth season, our leading shot taker, and has a $120M extension kicking in.

He leads the team in field goal attempts and also gets his fair share of touches. Bosh, Love, Klay, Ray never led their trios in shots.

Julius and Brunson do get more touches than him but he hasn’t shown or done anything to receive more touches than them.

U want him to be a play initiator? I don’t see that. I think his off-ball game should be his focus. His catch-and-shoot three ball is a developing strength and he has the highest % of assisted paint buckets in his career he is far better attacking off cuts, screens, handoffs than his self-created barreling into the paint.

This was the whole point of my post. He should be used like those guys and pick his spots, or sub him out early and play the bulk of his minutes with the second unit like Cam does. But instead he’s trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, trying to be something this team already has in Julius.
