Definitely easier to just chill and enjoy all the good surrounding this team right now. Brunson balled out today; Kerr said while some players win 50/50 balls a lot, Josh Hart wins 30/70's; RJ's adjustments to his release are promising; Rokas can pass the hell outta the rock; Grimes is in the lab with guys like Penny; IQ's with Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf; and I'm sure Julius is in a weightroom somewhere releasing the demons :mjlol:

Meanwhile, elsewhere...Miami still has to figure out a Damian Lillard trade; James Harden and Morey are beefing; KP got his first injury since being traded to the Celtics without playing; and Giannis just gave the Bucks a heads-up that he won't stick around if they're not contending.

Knicks fans don't get many offseasons this positive, we should enjoy it while we've got it.
Plus the damn Raptors embarrassed themselves trying to play the Knicks.

It’s all true, and I hope these good times last for as long as they are going to last.

Rokas showed out again...apparently, I'm in the office so I missed the games this morning. Rokas and RJ's stats look good on paper today, and I'm sure some highlights will trickle in.

Even better, it was Spo who said that about Josh.

Can one of you smart basketball nikkas (not you @ISO) let me know if RJ could replicate what he’s doing for Team Canada for us next season? Are they using him differently? I haven’t been able to catch a game at all.
I haven’t caught whole games but the biggest thing in the clips is he is using his right hand dribble way more to get into the paint and that is a sign he is playing into what the defense is giving him more. Same with those open threes, he had a bad offensive game so he played defense, and racked up assists and rebounds. I am making a generality but this is the poise you like to see from players after they got some playoff experience and why it’s important for young guys to get some playoff experience before they get into their primes.

I have no idea if that will carry over into the season, but overall it’s promising because that usually a sign the game has slowed down for a player and they are using their BBIQ more instead of trying to force things.

In his performances I've watched, it looks like a carryover from the postseason. Which just means, he's not drastically different but has been a bit better about decision-making. He still lapses into foul-hunting and hasn't shown any interest in midrange work. But here are the optimistic parts:

1. His jumper form is cleaned up. It's more fluid, his release looks faster, and so far he's shooting better behind it.

2. He's playing defense. Not a world-beater or anything, but the effort is just way better right now. I think (hope) he'll come into the season understanding that if he slacks on defense there are a bunch of wings ready to eat his minutes.

3. He's attacking the space defenders give him. It's annoying that it took so long, but if defenders let him have a whole bunch of space to the right...he's dribbling to the right. That only means he dribbles into the space though, he typically brings the ball back to the left for finishing. But this has let him carry momentum into defenders and should help with finishing.

4. This is just a neutral observation, but he's getting third-option Iso's which should mimic his role next to Brunson and Randle. SGA is the first and second option. Kelly Olynyk is the defacto playmaker when SGA is shaded. That leaves RJ with wing and corner touches that aren't so different from playing with Thibs' set-up.

1 and 2 are the big ones. If his shot is falling consistently, the lanes open up by themselves. If his effort is respectable on defense, then he has the benefit of Grimes at the POA and Mitch in the middle. So those are the two factors we need to see consistently. But I do think his play so far tracks as replicable against NBA players. The consistent form on his jumper gives me optimism, just keep Luka Doncic's nasty ass nails away from the shooting hand this year.

Edit: Here's some highlights of today. I missed the game but look at the jumper. From catch to release, he's in form and releasing faster.

He isn't playing that differently offensively from what I've seen. Mostly spot up 3's, transition finishes, and buckets in the paint after he puts his shoulder in someone's pecs. Same RJ arsenal we're accustomed to.

In FIBA, teams aren't packing the paint like what the Knicks deal with during the season so he gets much more space to operate in. He's hitting 3's at a high clip, but its too early to say whether its the new mechanics, or just his usual spurt of good shooting within his consistent inconsistency.

The spacing was something i was looking to see. Props to everyone who answered. Super helpful. I’ll try to catch a game soon.

Avengers compound
They have no back-up PF or size on the wings. Knicks might as well sign RHJ. Been looking good in international play. Will cost em nothing
Thibs been wanting Hart and RJ at the 4 llike a weirdo they aren't going to:snoop:
Another Thibs issue he looks for barely 6'4 wings:snoop:
