If we put melo’s jersey in the rafters its clearly out of pity because denver not doing it.

He played 6 seasons here, 2 all nba and 1 playoff appearances (he joined half way for his other playoff appearance) and 1 scoring title. Not deserving of it.

Melo is in a shytty situation because he didn’t accomplish much on either team, he might be the only first ballot HOFer that doesn’t get his jersey retired
T-Mac didn't, Grant Hill didn't, Vince is eligible next year & still hasn't got his # retired

I'd buy tickets to MSG the day they announced they were hanging up #7, unfortunately to be honest I don't think he did enough here to make that a reality

If #7 get retired, every Lin fan would be like "he did more in 2 weeks than Melo did in 6 years :camby:"

I don’t think it’s out of pity. Melo is well liked. I personally agree that you probably shouldn’t retire his number because it sets a bad precedent. At this rate, Randles number would probably be retired resume wise. Unless your argument is you’re also retiring it cause he has the record for most points in the garden.

We went to the playoffs in 11, 12, and 13 with Melo. Phil came in 14 and started drafting bums and running a smear campaign on Melo.

I mean, Melo didn't do much when he was on the Knicks to warrant his jersey being put in the rafters, but given he's a native and how much weight his name carries being one of the biggest stars of the last 20 years, that on his own should be enough to have his jersey retired.

It's not like y'all will be putting up any other jerseys anytime soon.

King not having his jersey retired is a travesty

Produced some of the greatest moments in Knicks history and the franchises most prolific scorer. Anyone from that era can tell you how cold dude was. Native New Yorker and all. Since retired has always been with the franchise court side in his suit supporting or even calling games.

Retire that man number while he’s alive to see it. :unimpressed:

A lot of information and a lot to unpack here. A couple of points

-The Knicks are not as high on KAT as they were two seasons ago.

-Derrick Rose option is not going to be picked up

-The Knicks organization particularly Leon Rose, Thibs and Wes hold Julius in very high regard and they are not trading him unless they get a Embiid, Giannis, Curry, etc, etc in return.

-Barrett can be moved but that player has to be better than Barrett. They won’t do it to do it

-Josh Hart contract will most likely be 4/72 million.

-Immanuel Quickley is the tough one. His floor according to reports is 4/80 million but IQ team is going for 4/100 million. IQ can also be in a package deal as well. His value has definitely increased

-Not surprising Evan Fournier will be gone.
