I'm all for "fukk cacs" whenever applicable but I don't see the issue here.
It looks like all that make up artist shyt on YouTube that females are into. There's an Asian bytch that does this same exact thing.
I don't give a shyt about any backlash she receives as a result but i honestly don't think the intent behind this was malicious and I could honestly care less
I had this same feeling at first...
but if you want to show the BEAUTY of African cultures...why not go to Africa and photograph them? Why do you have to change your skin color with a graphic designer?
The issue is the "juxtaposition" between white people and black people. To me - and call me self-conscious etc. - the women she tried to blend herself into are beautiful on their own merit. Why do they need to be shown next to her as "one of them" to showcase their beauty.
It's like photographing the homeless and then plastering a baby next to them and saying "SEE...all people matter...this homeless person was once a baby" but if you really want to admire/care for that homeless person you can learn their story without comparison. Instead, you are saying that the homeless person in and of itself is not beautiful without the context that they once came from a baby...
I am NOT saying that these cultures are like homeless people, I'm saying if you want to find something beautiful, tell us (as an artist) why it in itself is beautiful instead of trying to compare it with something else that you think is beautiful.
