Nina Turner has never won an election :laff:

She was appointed state senator, then ran unopposed in her re-election, then ran for Ohio Secretary of State where she lost 60-35, so she got crushed in the only competitive state wide race she's ever been in. :mjlol:

the Democrats are facing political ruin and it's business as usual and that seems to be ok with you. They're almost wiped out of control of all branches of state and federal government in the country.

It isn't working.

So were the Republicans 8 years ago.

Yet, here we are.

People are just dumb. Trump will do something that will motivate the left to vote / make the right wanna stay home, and we'll be back where we were nearly a decade ago. The sky isn't falling, breh

Trump is the most unpopular president in modern history and the Democrats are fairing worse. They're less popular than him.

In 2018 they'll be playing defense because many of the seats up are Democrat seats.

Yup. The GOP will probably get to 55-57 Senate seats next year.

hillary carpet bagged her way into the NY senate seat and only won because she was married to the president

Because Democrats literally have no cause at this point. I said it before, without Trump they have nothing to offer to the American people. . .

The Democrats don't fight for the poor anymore, the middle class, they've abandon true Civil Rights and seem to have replaced it with fighting for this very strange transgender nonsense. They're not helping unions or even talk about middle class tax cuts anymore.

The Democrats are the party of incremental Corporatism/Facsism. . . Nothing more.

Lets be objective here. Let's act like we're not supporting any candidate in particular.

What is the Democratic Party doing on the ground, right now,to motivate people to vote for them? Ignore what you think people should feel about the current situation and how through reason that Trump is so bad you should go out and prevent it. We probably all agree on this point weather you're more left or not on this subject.

The reality is that we have less than 50% of the population who even votes. Secondly, in 2016 there was a decrease in democratic participation in voting. Thirdly, a significant amount of two time Obama voters voted for Trump. Up to 13% of them compared to only 4% of McCain and Romney voters voting for Hillary Clinton. He also was able to mobilize a significant amount of first time voters or people who haven't voted in years. The apathy this time around was higher and there is a reason for it.

I personally ranted and raved about the importance of the Supreme Court for why Trump shouldn't win no matter who the Democratic nominee. But I realize that if your struggling to provide for your family and find a job then these issues are of less importance and especially if the other guy is promising to bring back these jobs you lost and get rid of exploitation of cheap labor which depresses wages (mixed in with xenophobic racism of course ).

So beyond that, how do you counter that dynamic? Just saying "be a grown up" doesn't fix this issue. This doesn't motivate ANYONE to vote for you.

Inspiration and connecting with a candidate is equally important. You need to address the apathy of the American voter who feels that since both parties are just servants of the rich in the country, why should they bother voting. Remember a big talking point among Trump voters was that he is already rich so he won't be beholden to anyone. They're obviously wrong, but it does underscore that being independent of the "system" is attractive to voters and if you're viewed as part of the "establishment" it hurts you. People are tired of people who simply spout empty rhetoric or say one thing but constantly do the other because "it's too hard" to do something else. No one wants to hear it's just too hard to prosecute someone for financial crimes and not even try when they commuted literally thousands of violations. What use are you?

The crazy thing is that he thinks there is only one solution here.

That is shut up and just vote despite your desire to vote.

But this strategy has no basis in reality. You can't shame people into voting. I say this as someone who supported Hillary Clinton and felt it was really important.

At the same time, dude needs to realize that people need to be motivated to vote. You can't just dictate this is your candidate and you better shut up and vote for them. This doesn't address my apathy and feeling that none of these people really care about the issues I care about if I was of that mindset.

This is a two way street. You have an obligation, if you want to turn out the vote, to find someone who will motivate people to vote. You can't take people's vote for granted. I think it's stupid not to vote for example but I always say that along side that you have the right and should exercise the right to vote whoever you please. This includes Jill stein and Gary Johnson because no one is entitled to your vote and you're voting for the candidate you agree with. It's up to the candidate to vote otherwise.

Side rant to my above post: I'm annoyed with some of the news stories I've seen about Kamala Harris and how she is being marketed in the political news. I have a bunch of news orgs liked on my Facebook and every time a story came up about her it's presented with just theatrics

"Watch kamala rip Jeff sessions a new one !" And of course the unsaid motivation for the story is to prop her up for 2020. I hate Jeff sessions as much as the next black man but when I see stories like who should run my question is

"What are their policies?"

This seems to never be the topic of discussion and most voters are used to grand standing in congress to build up politicians image but most people view it as political bullshyt. This doesn't motivate voters.

I feel like some people are only for kamala harris because she has media attention and marketed her name. Not based on what her stated policy goals are to make individuals lives bettter.
