He injured his knee at the '93 Rumble... that time he tried to pin Yoko and got tossed over the top.

It's still fukked what happened to him from that point on. He definitely still had some years left in him.
According to the documentary Macho wanted to have a long feud with Shawn Michaels with Shawn being put over and retiring Macho but Vince scrapped the idea because he didn't want millionaire veterans taking the spotlight away from the New Generation :snoop:

Here it is Macho being the anti Hogan and wanting to put over HBK big time and Vince said no and the smarks think Vince is out of touch NOW.

I don't even think he's as out of touch now as he was in the mid-90s. Vince was still living in 1987 for a long-ass time there.

He still is in most ways
Chris Jericho returns in 2012 to battle CM Punk for the WWE title at 28.
He returns in time for 29 to put over Fandango. :dead:

Anything to avoid going home I guess.
this. From challenging for the top title in the sport to jerking the curtain and losing to a character designed to end up on wrestlecrap

Orndorff definitely... main event at 1, to opening match at II, insanely hot main eventer later that year, but not even on the card at III.
And DB went from holding both titles...

to IC title...

....to at home selling boxes of assorted local jellies & herbs with a headache :sadcam:

That situation is a bit different. They're knowingly holding the guy back and low on the card directly because of how over he is compared to who they want as the top guy. They've been trying to kill his heat since mania 28 really.

Yokozuna went from main eventing 9 and 10 to forming a tag team with Owen Hart and wrestling the Smoking Gunns :scust:

His fall off was much worse than Miz's in terms of being moved down the card
