What happened to her character. She went from Jean Grey 2.0 to in the wind
Marvel has lots of mutant characters that are incredibly interesting but they ignore like Hope, Beak, Destiny, etc in favor of extremely boring mutants that bring in steady neutral sales dollars (Beast, Iceman, etc). They literaly had zero interesting Iceman stories for so long that the editor okayed them making him gay, and nobody even cared.
With a character like Beak, we got to see for the first time ever what its like being a deformed mutant. Because usually the deformed mutants are thrown to a d-team like the morlocks or made a villain. Or, they have a cool looking deformity and they are all buff (Beast, Colossus, etc).
With Beak though, he was the type of character that would of been a morlock 99% of the time or at least a New Mutant cameo throw away character, but was so noble he rose up to the X-Men main roster despite looking completely mutated physically , and not in a cool sleek Nightcrawler way.
So what do they do?
They depower him so he now looks regular, then give him fake wings so he can rejoin the team with the same power, but
without the drama of his appearance.
(The new Beak)
The writers for Marvel's X-Men are absolute
They are there due to white privilege and nepotism, cause they can't write worth shyt.
THATS what happened to Hope Summers.
