@MartyMcFly I know nothing will top the greatness of the Clone Saga but we could use your opinion here.
:picard::ufdup:

One More Day is worse and I'm going to tell you all why:

One More Day wasn't a creator taking a stab to try something new; it was an editorial mandate brought upon by an EIC who disliked something and wanted it to go back to his childhood. It was all this nostalgia bullshyt writ large and did nothing for any character involved.

1. Peter looks like a baby who can't let go of his mommy. On no plane of existence would Aunt May want Peter to sacrifice his marriage for her. She wants him to be happy and live the life she and Ben got to live. She'd want him to keep growing and be the supportive husband for his wife.

2. MJ knows this as well, and would never put Peter in a position where he's even forced to make the choice. Would she choose for him? Yes. But she'd also respect him enough to take his input. Quesada and everyone involved let the woman be the sacrificial lamb to avoid tossing blame at Peter and that's a cop out.

Now, let's get to the other bullshyt they said they'd get to do post One More Day. We were told they'd do "spider-man stories we couldn't tell with a married Peter Parker" Oh word? You can't tell the story of Peter going back to work for the bugle when he's married? Funny, cause he did that while he was married.

Can't tell the story of Norman coming back to torture Peter?

Can't tell the story of a businessman/philanthropist who moonlights as a crime lord?

The only things they added to the stories they would've already told was one or two love interests that ultimately went nowhere because clearly the writers didn't believe in them enough and the fans weren't receptive. So they did nothing but move Peter backwards for the sake of moving him backwards.

Then they did that damn O.M.I.T. story to explain what happened to Peter and MJ in this new reality, which also had everyone out of character. MJ once again decides she can't be with Peter because he's spider-man. Really? That's the angle we're going for? This is one of the strongest characters in the whole damn comic universe and for them to keep going back to this "she can't handle it" thing is bullshyt. And once again, Peter is a bystander in his life while everyone else around him makes decisions.

So no new stories were told that they couldn't tell with him being married. No characters advanced at all. And in fact, the most advancement came when Dan Slott put MJ back in the book prominently and really addressed MJ and Peter's relationship as adults. Fast forward all these years later and that genie Joey Q wanted back in the bottle so damn much...is out again and the two are a couple and living together. So what exactly did that storyline accomplish?

One More Day is a 15 yard pass play that's wiped out due to offensive pass interference :hhh:

You make a strong case :patrice:
To expand on the bystander and no character advancement it seemed like this is a move to keep spidey from actually growing up. It seem like an editorial decision to keep him in a state of adolescence :patrice:
Its like the writer wanted to keep him in that state to keep that magic of the yung spidey but doing that just to retcon all the progress had me:dwillhuh:
The most blatant part that told me this isone o the last panels

yup. all so Joey Q and others in editorial could have the "spider-man I grew up with" which is such bullshyt. Sins Past isn't perfect by any means, but it's something that can be easily retconned just by ignoring it. One More Day effectively changed the emotional context for 20 plus years of story because they, for some reason, said a married spider-man isn't relatable

Oh yeah I won't lie that beatdown was satisfying. If that shyt wasn't retconned kingpin would be scared of his own shadow:pachaha:
That's the kinda beating you wake up in cold sweats in the middle of the night to:pachaha:
Even the other inmates lookin at him like:scust: this our king(pin)?

And technically, that's not one more day. That's back in black, which came before one more day.

Again, he and others wanted the spidey they grew up with. they also said they couldn't make Peter a widow or divorce him because it "aged the character"

I guess the thing about sins past that got me was the comic run before was pretty good. The enemies stuff, aunt may finding out he spiderman, Peters job as a teacher etc. JMS was actually a decent spiderman writer

And it was good after sins past. he found a way to deal with the fallout from that, and then civil war and made some good comics. back in black, despite the shyt that came after it, is a really good arc
