This is the 'verticality' rule that Hibbert abused against the knicks in the playoffs a few years ago. Yea the arms are straight up but he jumped forward into wade :mjlol: i dont want to beat a dead horse but im amazed the league still cant get that call right
If the league makes the rules, and they say that's legal, then how are they not getting it right?

Seems your interpretation of the rule must be wrong.

:mjlol: Oh rly?

To be considered vertical, a defender must:
  1. Maintain a vertical trajectory by jumping straight up. If the player jumps toward or to the side of an oncoming player, he will be assessed a blocking foul. A player may, however, angle his jump backwards slightly in such a way as to absorb the impact of the oncoming player, and of course, he may land behind where he leapt from because of the force of the contact.
Now watch the replay. Does zeller jump straight up, maintaining a vertical trajectory? Or does he jump toward Wade

It wasn't exatclty straight up, but wade was the one coming with more forward momentum.

Again if the league reviews this and says its legal, maybe you should change your interpretation of the rule. It's their rule after all.

lol, dude came from the restricted circle to the other side of the basket "vertically"

Not to mention the Lee hack.

I would have been bitter as hell if we lost this series
