There isn't a professional Black city down here unfortunately. Maybe Orlando/Tampa area or South Florida. You're going to get a healthy dose of white and Hispanic folk wherever you go. Miami would be better for a breh in entertainment than the medical field imo.

Does Jacksonville have a decent black population? I looked it up and its supposedly like 30 something percent black

I dunno if I'd say Jacksonville. I did enjoy living there, but there didn't seem to be a huge black professional community there. There's not a very big college community either. Going out is hit and miss, though beach bars are usually a nice chill place. If you like white women, its nice tho.

I wound up having my best weekends traveling to Orlando, so I'd lean to Orlando, though I don't know that much about Orlando. Downtown seemed pretty fun and its not a far drive to Tampa too.

Turned 25 in Jan, spent all my life in NYC. Place really aint it. I'm in the medical field and want to move somewhere in florida with a good size of black "professionals" 35 and under with night life or at least a mixed place with night life. Can't be living around pure whites or hispanics. Does a place like this exist in Florida. I'm seeing people say Jacksonville, Miami or Tampa. Is it true if you can't speak spanish getting a job in Miami might be hard?

South Florida has alot of young brothers and sisters who do well, i would go there... you'll blend in easier.

Tampa is too country and if you're not married don't bother.

University of Miami Hospital is pretty big business down here and the school isn't that bad in terms of education, it's like 35k a year.

Like I said this breh would eat well in Broward County, tons of his people over here.

Tampa and Jacksonville are dominated by hood culture, South Florida has alot of active young educated single and they make up the socialization.

If I was young and educated I'll go to there, I'm not in that league and I'm old so it aint' for me

If I had money I'd stay where I'm at honestly.

but if since you're from NYC the Miami area is basically NYC's 6th borough with palm trees....every time Im there it seems like everyone is from NYC, was born in NYC as a baby but still claims it or acts like it so you'd love it. I'd say Hollywood area is cool tho

The whole state of Florida is about that gun/violence life so you can't drop your guard anywhere. Of course some areas are more extreme then others, but the point is...don't let a Kodak or Ross verse have you thinking nikkas only be shooting up Pompano and Miami.

Broward County is prolly your best bet since they have a lil bit of everything. Places like Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Pembroke Pines.

You can find the numerous amount of areas that are predominantly black but you gotta make sure they ain’t the hood tho.


Only thing I will say is Little Haiti, Overtown are going through gentrification. Maybe you should consider those areas since you are black professional.
