GGG doesn't belong on this list imo. Dude was a squatter. Wanted the smaller guys to come up, but wouldn't move up for the bigger guys.

Winky, I feel wasn't ready, that euro tour was needed. He was the man, sitting next to the man, sitting next to the man, sitting next to the man.

Didn't follow rigondeaux, can't comment.

GGG only waited for Canelo to move up. You had full blown nikkas at 160 that didn't want it. Remember the Brook fight only happened, because Eubank turned it down. Ain't like he went on to fight or beat any bigger names than GGG. Dude would rather move up and get blanked by Groves than run that GGG fade. Cotto, Sturm, Martinez were all middleweights too. shyt remember Peter Quillin didn't want it either.

Blaming GGG for not waiting on the biggest fight in boxing, is like telling Hopkins to turn down Kings 160 tournament and miss out on a possible Tito fight. Just to move up and fight fukking Sven Ottke, in a fight less people would have cared about or given him credit for.

Agree with you on Winky tho.

GGG was ducked, but my thing with him was he was ducking too.

His whole career is "Why won't anyone fight me?"

Meanwhile with Ward he's like

There was action at 168+. But he chose to stay the boogie man at 160. Nothing wrong with that but he can't be compare to PW imo because of that.

When people say Paul Williams was avoided, they are pretty much referring to his time at WW. The problem is I feel like Paul Williams left 147 prematurely before any big fights could ever really happen. He gained national attention in 2006 after beating Matthysee, won the WBO in 2007, lost and regained the title in 2008, and then left the division. Once he removed himself from the division, it made no sense for a welterweight to fight him.

If he could still make WW, then it was definitely poor career management to leave the division.

Winky & GGG stayed in their division until they could finally get those fights.

Basically any fighter that is NICE will be avoided until they make themselves an attraction. Once that happens, fighters jump at the chance to fight them.

It has to be Rigo. He beat the man and wasn’t able to get an interesting fight until Loma.

You can't duck someone that's not in your weight class tho. Only Ward fans wanted that GGG fight. Nobody else did and GGG wasn't going to make the same level of money fighting Ward that he would make fighting Canelo. Ward, Froch, DeGale, Jack, Dirrell. Ward was also going through his legal issues and was barely fighting his damn self at the time. The rest of them nikkas weren't even bringing in Danny Jacobs level money.

I hope nikkas start pushing for Crawford against Jermell Charlo, since he might not get the Spence fight. Plus it sound like he don't want any of the top PBC guys either
Gotta keep that energy. :francis:

Paul Williams was ducked true, but he fukked that up after the Margarito fight when he lost to Carlos Quintana. You can't be the boogeyman and beat Margarito who was the boogeyman before you, have the whole boxing world's eyes on you and then lose to fukking Quintana in your next fight. His whole aura took a hit and he never got it back, even tho he stopped him in the rematch. Even though it was an off night, most fans used that to say guys like Floyd, Cotto, Pac, etc....would still find a way to beat him. shyt was unfair as fukk, but this is boxing.

Imagine if Rigo would have lost his first fight after beating Donaire or GGG loses to Lemieux. Nobody would even entertain that ducking shyt by them. Paul lost at the worst moment ever. It sucks, but that's what happened. He did work his way up to a fight with Pavlik, but that cac kept pulling out of the fight so Paul was definitely unlucky with that too.

Thread reminded me of Rigondeaux - Agbeko :gag:
most of us try to forget that fight hahaha

i missed the whole kirkland-tapia / rigo-agbeko card live because i was at my company's christmas party at a hotel in downtown boston

luckily the suite i was in had hbo on their TV system so hungover as shyt i watched the fight the morning after

kirkland-tapia made me forget i was severely hungover :ohlawd:
rigo-agbeko made me remember i was severely hungover :gag:

its a shame agbeko was never seen on american TV afterwards just by being associated with that even though he was a good action fighter

More Euro defense? Lol. GGG had no one to fight but Jacibs and Canelo ...Canelo ran for 2 years and he lost the Jacobs fight. So he had to cash out and stay away from Ward...they said they could beat anyone from 154-168...what happened? Always talking shyt and going back on it on some bum shyt. Victor Ortiz has more guts than that. Lol.

GGG didn't want no part of Andre Ward. I'm going with Rico. Wright at least got a few big fights eventually. Paul about to get a fight with Canelo before the accident.
