How about a cartoon death that was damn near played for laughs and ended with disturbingly upbeat music and singing?
I remember watching this as a kid late at night on cartoon network and feeling mortified when I realized Tom was just executed
I had already seen Mufassa and Bambi's mom get killed, so I knew cartoons had deaths, but damn
Pauvre, pauvre p*ssycat
I was dead on the inside for the rest of the night while trying to watch other cartoons to make myself feel better

Liittlefoot's mother's death remains the saddest moment out of all the animated movies I've seen. The fact that his mother got out a few poignant last words puts it above the other two. Add in Littlefoot's innocence and Horner's touching score it really hit a young breh hard
