So for example, imo there was a notable shift from 1992 to 1993. I felt the content, the sound of production shifted majorly between those two years.

I also felt that way from 1995 to 1996.

What other years y'all feel fall under that category?

97-98 was a big shift from a mainstream perspective, from a lot of big songs sampling 70s and 80s pop and R&B records and hooks, to beats being created by the producers on a keyboard.

Feel like Puff is almost entirely to blame for this, found a cheat code for guaranteed hits and went OD so artists and labels started charging a fortune to clear samples especially from hit records.

When you say back to back years, you mean both years being similar? (The first year starting the change in sound then the following year being the execution of the change). Or one year being a complete opposite of the previous year?

That shyt had me confused for a second too.

Pretty sure he’s just asking what year had the biggest shift from the year before.
