I loved War of the Worlds. Everything about it felt so real like reality TV coverage of civilians panicking during an invasion.

And it pulled off the family drama without it feeling artificial and forced in to tug heartstrings like just about every scifi movie after it has done.

You do not need to see War of The Worlds, Spielberg tried to capture Orson Wells terror without emphasizing special effects. the movie is a misfire.
